Developers claim that this update makes the platform even faster, more secure, and easier to build modern applications. This is a long-term support (LTS) version that will be supported until November 2028. So developers can confidently plan projects for years to come.

The following changes are emphasized among the key changes:

  • Substantial performance improvements due to improved compilation and optimized memory usage. The C# 14 language has new features that simplify syntax and reduce boilerplate code.
  • The support for file-based apps has been added - now you can run a separate C# file without creating a project, which is especially convenient for small scripts and tools.
  • Libraries have also been updated: post-quantum cryptography has been added, UTF-8 and Entity Framework Core 10 have been improved, and now support complex types and new LINQ features.
  • For web and mobile development, ASP.NET Core 10 and .NET MAUI now support OpenAPI 3.1, improved form validation, and enhanced integration with WebAssembly.
