Flexible corporate environment of cloud computing - easier than ever
The principal advantage of cloud technology is the ability to scale the runtime environment flexibly and without downtime, according to business requirements.
Virtual data center from RealHOST is no exception. At any time, when necessary, you can add RAM, disk space or IP addresses to the existing platform. When there is no need for resources - you can reject them.
Our cloud stores a set of templates for the most popular OS - CentOS/Debian/Ubuntu/ Alpine, as well as Windows Server of all the latest versions.
A progressive disk platform with copy-on-write technology allows you to deploy a virtual machine from a template with any operating system in a few seconds. There is no longer any need to wait a long time until the proper server is deployed, all the operations of running and removing the VM are a deal of a few seconds.
To ensure the operation of the Virtual Data Center service, the popular and stable KVM hypervisor (based on CentOS 7) is used, which is managed by a cluster of Opennebula servers - an open cloud computing platform.
Physically, the equipment is placed in a reliable Tier-III level data center. Each server is provided with hardware redundancy for power and network.
The cluster is built using powerful Supermicro servers, a high-speed Infiniband 40Gb/s network, Microtik routers and gigabit uplinks to the Internet.
The distributed fault tolerant disk platform (SDS Ceph) provides the operation of two disk pools - the All-Flash SSD for cloud virtual machines and the hybrid (SATA / SAS + SSD) for the backup system.
Answers to frequently asked questions about using a virtual data center
First of all, by its target purpose.
Virtual server is usually taken to run one task or project/site that needs to be placed on the network.
Virtual data cenetr - is also an opportunity to run one or several projects on the Internet. But, the most important, this service is the IAS platform (Infrastructure as a Service), which is perfect:
- to transfer server infrastructure from the office to the cloud;
- to create a distributed corporate infrastructure;
- for development teams to deploy test or productive environments;
- to create a platform for teamwork with strict sharing of access to resources.
Below are a few key benefits of the RealHOST private cloud:
- there are no direct restrictions on the number of virtual machines to create;
- there is a private network protected by a full-fledged virtual router/firewall;
- resource pool delegation and sharing among administrators;
- increased security - there is the possibility of enabling two-factor authentication;
- ability to create persistent volumes;
- backup file storage with access via SMB/CIFS and FTP/FTPS.
The platform settings do not directly limit the number of virtual machines that can be run within the same Virtual data center. However, there is a natural restriction on the use of processor cores.
Each created virtual machine reserves for itself from 0.1 to 2 CPU threads (with step of 0.1), thus, the number of VMs in the cloud is equal to the number of available processors divided by the number of reserved threads.
For example, the standard tariff of the Virtual Data Center provides 2 CPUs for use, which allows you to create up to 20 virtual machines.
The number of available CPUs directly depends on the number of leased RAM.
Each virtual data center is provided by a dedicated private network with IP addresses 192.168.10.0/24. In addition, one or more public networks are available with access to real (white) IP addresses.
VyOS software router is available in virtual machine templates. One router interface connects to the public network, the second to the private one. The standard scenario for using the cloud involves deploying VMs in a private network and publishing (forwarding) ports using a virtual router to internal services.
However, this is not a required scenario. You can abandon the router, use your own resource allocation logic and connect any VM to any network.
In addition to the VyOS router, the popular Mikrotik Cloud Core Router is also available with a free license, which includes full functionality, but limits the network speed to 1 Mbps. If you need this router, you can purchase and install a Mikrotik license by yourself.
There is no test period for the Virtual Data Center service.
To evaluate the convenience and capabilities of the service a demo account is provided. The demo account features are full, but have one limitation - all created virtual machines are automatically deleted within 5 minutes after creation.
